Road Trip to Western Australia

Well, I said that I was going to get back into things, so here I am.
We had a fabulous holiday driving over to W.A., it was such a long drive but amazing. We left home on Monday morning and drove to Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, stayed the night there and left early in the morning to head for Ceduna. I think we drove about 800kms that day, Ceduna is interesting, very large Aboriginal population with nothing much happening. Had fish and chips overlooking the harbour while the sun set, which was quite spectacular. We had found a motel for the night that we thought would be OK. The room was basic but fine, what we didn't take into consideration though was that it had a gravel drive. The restaurant was at the top of the driveway and as there is nothing much to do in Ceduna every one seemed to be heading off there. We had to be up at 3.30am to leave for Esperence (1400kms away) so we were really looking forward to a good nights rest. We were woken by footsteps crunching on gravel until about 1am, up and down, up and down. Wonderful!

We did manage to get away by 4.30am though. It was very foggy when we left Ceduna and we were worried about Kangaroos as we got out of the town heading towards the dessert. The fog didn't lift until about 8am when we were stopping for breakfast at the Nullabor Roadhouse. Now was that an experience, two bacon and tomato sandwiches, two cups of coffee ..... $42.00 thank you very much. I know they have to transport everything, but I think the fact that they have you captured so to speak, nothing else around for hundreds of kilometres, dictates the prices.
Well, that's it for today, hopefully I will be able to continue and talk about Esperence ~ beautiful place.
Bye for now
