So this is what's making my man smile..................

Before Christmas he bought himself a 1973 VW Beetle, a toy to play with!

He loved it, I didn't!!

(that's not a scratch, just a reflection - phew!!)

It was not my ideal drive in the country type car.............

So he sold it and bought this MX5. This year has a couple of milestone dates in it, my 60th birthday and our 40th Anniversary, so when this came up for sale at a really good price, we thought instead of buying things that will sit in a cupboard or on a shelf and collect dust, we'd buy this for both of us.

He still has his ute and I still have my Mazda 3, we have grandchildren to fit in a car and mum and dad too at times, so the little red mazda is just for the two of us to escape every now and then....!!!

You know of course, that it will go faster because it is red? The very first new car I had, in about 1975, was a little red Mazda which I loved dearly. Have fun in it.

It's gotta be ruby coloured.
It's our Ruby this year too. We're going to Melb to see Jersey Boys for it!

Oh, see now that's why you've been married 40 years, what a compromise. Enjoy, go places and report back. Don't forget to take turns at the driving, lol. Congratulations on two milestones this year.

I can see why he'd be smiling; I'd be smiling too!

I agree about the gifts; in 2007 be both turned 50 and had our 30th anniversary. It was also DD's 21st so we flew to Darwin then caught the Ghan to Alice SPrings then hired a mobile home to go out to Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon for a few days! Of course it helped that WM working for the railways meant a discount on the Ghan for the two of us!

Hi Lizzie, just found your blog and have enjoyed looking around. All I can say is; I turned 60 last year and a beautiful "red flash" didn't drive up my driveway...lol!
Congratulations on your years together and keep on stitching.
Kind Regards

How fun! And pretty! Um, I would enjoy a new car but heck, my hubby bought me new tires for my SUV today, so I guess I will be keeping it a while ;^)
