The things you find in the garden of a quilter...

I was outside this morning admiring all the spring flowers, looking at all the lovely, sweet green buds on the trees. Thinking that the little flowers in the pots on the verandah looked really pretty. Then I saw this.....

....a lovely little white jonquil, pretty litte pansy's, some sweet alice and a miniature Camellia in a big clay pot. But what's that holding the Camellia to it's little stake.....???

I had to laugh, he obviously couldn't find any ties for the plant so grabbed a tiny scrap of fabric out of the rubbish bin in my sewing room....
How sweet does it look..??

Clever man - fabric does have a little give in it, so the poor plant wont be strangled - my Dad did this and so have I. I've been wondering how things are for you Lizzie - do you still need more blocks for your special quilt?

I love the mix of pansies and bulbs.
My handyman can be quite creative with ties. He usually begs for stockings so I throw some cut ones in the shed.

A very sweet thing indeed - he could not have known how special that little scrap for a tie could be...but he does now, lol. :-)

I have also done this . My daghter has a rose bush near her front door and it need to be tied and all I had with me was my sewing bag so I dug through it until I found a long scrap , it is still there and makes me smile to this day!

What a great idea - much prettier than old tights which is what I usually use.

Very cute! I have used selvages in the past to tie up roses and tomatoes.....but with all the craze on quilting with selvages I give them to a friend who is making stuff with them.
