Don't you just love grey and red..?

I started this with the intention of just adding strips on two sides until I had a large square quilt...

the red square is 8.5" cut and the strips are 4.5" cut, so the block is 36" square....

then I decided to make four blocks the same and join them.....as you do!

and this is what I ended up with...I'm pretty happy with it, all stash fabric. the red is pretty dominant isn't it? working on piecing a backing this afternoon then hopefully I can get it quilted tomorrow....

It's been quite cool here for the last couple of days, a nice relief after the heat...

not much sunshine around either, except from these beauties....

back to work on Wednesday, we'll see how long my resolve to get back to blogging lasts......

It's is so nice to see you are blogging again! I had "The Cumberland Quilt Chick" blog, you might remember me. I stopped blogging several years ago, but did love it! I love my husband almost three years ago now and moved off of Cumberland island, Georgia. we were a retained rights holder within the national park so I had to give our home to the government then. I have since moved up to the smokey mountains of North Carolina. I've always love the mountains here and it's people. I decided I had nothing to loose, so just up and moved, not knowing anyone. I'm so glad that I did! I'm on just now getting settled in life again. So many changes. I'm beginning to quilt again and needlepoint. It's nice to have the four seasons again. I loved living on the coast and in the south, but the extreme heat didn't agree with me. We've had a snow storm the last few days and I'm like a kid again! I love your new studio! What a nice, and handy!, husband you have! It's wonderful! The windows are so nice. Please tell us about your lovely shelves you have for your fabrics, the little cubby holes. They are great. I look forward to seeing more and watching you create. I'm so glad that I was signed up for your mailings, because I really don't get around to the blogs anymore like I use to. I'm doing the BOM for Quiltmania, we have a store in U.S. Selling the fabrics and I'm so excited to have this inspire me to sew. I love your block! Sort of a take on the log cabin. Sort of reminds me of the Gees Bend quilts a bit here.
Just blog when you can and don't let it become work. Let it just happen as you are inspired to do so. So glad that you are back.
